Book Review: Where the Blame Lies

Where the Blame Lies by Mia Sheridan

Rating: ★ ★ ★ ★

Book synopsis:

At nineteen-years-old, college student Josie Stratton was kidnapped by a madman and held shackled for ten months in an abandoned warehouse before she finally escaped her hellish prison.

Eight years later, when the body of a young woman is found chained in the basement of a vacant house, Cincinnati Police Detective Zach Copeland is instantly reminded of the crime committed against Josie Stratton. Zach was just a rookie on the perimeter of that case, but he’s never forgotten the traumatized woman with the haunted eyes.

As more information emerges, the crimes take on an even more sinister similarity. But Josie’s attacker died by suicide. Does the city have a copycat on its hands? A killer who picked up where the original perpetrator left off? Or are they facing something far more insidious?

Josie has spent the last eight years attempting to get her life back on track, but now there’s a very real chance she could be the unknown suspect’s next target. As Zach vows to keep her safe, and Josie finds herself responding to him in a way she hasn’t responded to any man in almost a decade, the investigation takes on an even more complex edge of danger.

As past and present collide, Josie and Zach are thrust toward a shocking and chilling truth. A revelation that threatens not only Josie’s life, but everything she’s been fighting so desperately to reclaim.

OMG, this book I can’t even put it into words, The twists and turns in this book were AMAZING. Josie was such a brave woman after all of this trauma she remained brave, strong, and loving, and Zach’s character was beautiful, he is such a kind and understanding character, The way he treated Josie was beautiful.

I was in a reading slump and decided to read one of Mia’s books and omg I couldn’t put it down. The plot twist at the end was shocking I didn’t see that coming and I couldn’t predict what will happens to them next. Overall this book was amazing, I enjoyed it and I’m kinda out of my reading slump.

Book Review: Fallen

Fallen by Mia Sheridan

Rating: ★ ★ ★ ★ ★

Book synopsis:

Scarlett Lattimore arrives at Lilith House, an abandoned mansion built in 1876, that later housed a reform school for troubled girls, to start a new life with her seven-year-old daughter.

But between the nearby town with the strange, disconcerting feel, the deputy sheriff who is equal parts intriguing and suspicious, and the discovery that their new home holds a dark and violent past, Scarlett soon begins to question her rash decision.

She is shaken and afraid by the screams that echo in the walls and the drumbeat that arises from the surrounding woods where the ghost of an indigenous man is said to roam, seeking vengeance. Her fear is also personal, because Scarlett knew one of the girls who attended the school, a friend who escaped into those woods and was never seen again. They all thought she was a rebellious runaway who later encountered foul play, but perhaps the truth is far more sinister.

As Scarlett’s extraordinary daughter Haddie becomes consumed by the eerie figure who weaves and beckons through the forest fog, and a legacy of secrets reveal themselves, it becomes clear both Scarlett and Haddie are in grave danger. When the past intersects with the present, they will come face to face with the true evil of Lilith House. An evil that has lasted for more than a century.

Review:

Fallen Is a suspenseful dark romance novel by Mia Sheridan. Third person ‘POV.’ Goes from ‘Past to Present time.

First we have thirteen years ago with Kandace who was a troubled girl and goes to the Lilith House Reform School for her behavior.and thirteen years later we have Scarlett and her daughter in the present. who is moving to this building as their new home and strange things starting to happen to them in this house . We are introduced to deputy West who is a mysterious guy who has a lot of secrets.

Fallen kept me on the edge of my seat! Wow, just wow Mia Sheridan is one of my favorite authors and she never disappoint . This book was creepy , emotional and not what I expected it to be,and Kendace’s story was heartbreaking. The story was all twisty turny and there were parallel stories going on until the last chapters when all the loose ends were tied up.

Words can not describe how quickly I was sucked into this book. I couldn’t put it down trying to figure it out. This story was so interesting, so sad, so brutal in places and yet heartbreaking as well ,I LOVED IT and highly recommend it.
